  1. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

Click on the cirlce for "by collection" under "Explore Color," and select "faux finishes" from the drop-down menu. I think any of these would give you the modern & dramatic look you're searching for. I particularly like "suede chaps" (# 7153) from their SoftSuede collection. Paired with blue furnishings, it would look very contemporary.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  2. This is a very exciting time for you!!  Congratulations!

I've always gone with seasons for room colors.  Kitchen reminds me of autumn, deep rich red.  It adds warmth and a pleasant calm.

Bedrooms, I try to suggest going with what ever your favorite season actually is.  Summer - bright light colors, Fall - deep tones of brown, Winter - blues, silvers, Spring - muted brights, lavander, yellows.  This way when you get into your "santuary" you will be instantly relaxed.

Living rooms - best to stay neutral and add in the color with pillows, decorations and furniture.

Dining rooms - deep colors - royal blue, maroon.

I used behr.com and found many different options.  That might be a good place to start.  They show you the finished product, give you the exact colors you will need and instructions on process for techniques.

    Good Luck!!  And enjoy!!

  3. Grab a copy of 3d home designer thats what we do...... plot out your plan, add colours etc then walk through your home changing what your scheme as you think of it.....

  4. Go for neutral and add the colour/drama with large paintings/pics on the wall, with a snazzy chair underneath them!  Don't be afraid of colour and if you like it - use it!

Enjoy your first house/home and good luck experimenting.

    :o)

  5. Think mortgage and reposssion and an anchor round your neck not colour schemes

  6. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

First thing to do when you move in is to open a bottle of champagne, sit down, put your feet up and enjoy the first few moments in your new home.

I've always found that it is far better to live in a house for a while before contemplating colour schemes.  You'll need to see what natural day light there is in each room and as you get to know your house a colour scheme will become easier to choose.  Colour schemes isn't something that can be rushed and is very personal.  Get yourself moved in, get settled, get your finances organised as you'll have more going out at first than you'd anticipated and then start thinking about your colour scheme.

    GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY!!

  7. Go mediteranean in the kitchen with yellows, gold and reds. keep lounge in warm colours (blues or greens) and bedrooms cool colours shades of white.  4 bathrooms use tiles
