Overdose lost his unbeaten record in a strange race in Germany.
The pride of Hungary, who his fans call the “Budapest Bullet”, had been undefeated in his previous 14 career starts, but was firing blanks in the Group Two Goldene Peitsche at Baden-Baden. Trainer Josef Roszival booked Christophe Soumillon, who had ridden the horse once before, but the horse was clearly not happy at the reunuion.
Overdose was drawn wide, in stall 13, and was extremely fractious at the start, rearing up and dumping his jockey on the ground a couple of times behind the stalls. When he finally consented to be loaded into the stalls it looked to be business as usual as Overdose was just off the lead set by Mood Music.
