  1. While there are a lot of car manufacturers with them in the works, and many scheduled for release in 2010, the price is another problem other that fuel availability.

  2. Honda is one of the only companies that has been able to produce one of these vehicles for less than $1 million so I would predict them to be the first mass produced fuel cell, but it will not be for a long time

  3. I don't think Hydrogen fuel cells will be widely available for a long time.

Hydrogen is ridiculously dangerous, and the current fuel cell technology resembles something that you would expect to find on a space craft.   I don't see how they can make it affordable in a reasonable number of years.  It sounds simple, but the devil is in the details.

I think that Lithium Ion battery technology will dominate in the very near future.       From manufacturers such as A123 systems, Enerdel, and Altair Nanotechnologies.

Altair Nanotechnologies NanoSafe batteries, can be fully recharged in 10 minutes ( 80% in 1 minute), ( discharge 85% in 36 seconds), operate -30C to 75C, will not overheat if smashed or overcharged, is unaffected by deep cycling, under or over charging, has been tested to 25000 deep cycles, and has an expected life of 12 to 20 years or more.   They are available now, and are in use by AES electric ( electric grid stabalization), and in Phoenix motorcars fully electric sports utility vehicles, 120miles/charge.  www.phoenixmotorcars.com   www.altairnano.com

Also a dark horse in Austin TX, EEStor makes a high density capacitor, which appears to work well, but are very secretive.

    It uses ultrapure barium titanate.

  4. hydrogen fuel seems as silly as the "bio" fuels. its a nice gimic and sounds nice but really is ridiculous. the money, time, development and still technologies needed for it is just too far off. We can go to electric cars now. Electric cars are much more feasable as its not dangerous, available sooner, and we have the tech to make em now. And with all this green movement we can make alt source of electricity. but that is my opinon..
