Question:

First moms, did you grow up dreaming that one day you'd get pregnant, so you could relinquish your child?

I know I didn't. I never intended, nor thought I could have children. Then when it was forced on me, after going back on forth on what I should do, I decided to keep my daughter, "Lauren". Because of a freak accident and no help from my family, I had to "choose" adoption. It was a nightmare.

What about you other first moms?

No offense, but please, with all due respect to AP's... please don't answer if you have an "open" adoption and speak for the first mom. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. I don't think all AP's are bad or anything like that, I just want to hear from people who've been through it, or people who understand it from this point of view.

  1. I don't believe any of do.  Why would we?  Why would we grow up to be in pain?

    MPS:  agree with you 100%

  2. No.  But you know what I did think before I got pregnant and relinquished?  I thought being a surrogate mother would be really neat so others could have babies they couldn't have otherwise.  That was before I knew the consequences of such a choice.

And then at one of my lowers points that first year with my grief after relinquishment, I even thought in a few years we should get pregnant again so that we could give them another baby so they wouldn't have to worry if another expectant mother would back out of an adoption with them.  =oP  Like I was a baby factory or something.

Relinquishing a child is a big mind ****.

  3. No. I actually thought I would grow up, get married, have children, then get divorced. This is the example that was set for me. Later when I found out that I didn't have to be married to have kids, I figured I would skip that whole proccess. Later yet, when I found out I had control of the situation, I decided never to have any children. But as soon as I found out I was pregnant, yes, I was adamant about placing her for adoption.
