  1. more detail????

  2. I'm guessing you have no experience at this, or you wouldn't be asking this question in the first place.

Several US national trucking companies (Swift, CR England, Schneider, etc) will provide training and actually pay you to gain experience, if you agree to work for them for a certain length of time.  You will not be paid while attending 3-4 weeks of classroom training, but may be offered free room and board.

After you complete your classroom training, you will test for and receive a CDL, and  you will go on the road with a driver/trainer for another 3-4 weeks where you will actually drive on the highways and haul real freight.  Most companies will pay you between $300 and $350 per week for this training period.  Once you complete this training you can sign on with the company and start your career as a professional company driver, earning 30-35 cents per loaded mile.

  3. I see signs on the backs of trucks all the time that say "Drivers

wanted, $.37 per mile" and they range from $.37 to $.43 (the ones I've

    seen recently anyways).

Assuming a trucker averages 50 miles an hour for 40 hours a week (2000 hours a year), that is 2000 X 50 X .40 = $40,000.  And the company pays all expenses such as lodging, gas, truck repairs, tolls... At the same time, I doubt most truckers drive quite 2000 hours a year.

  4. too many variables here, Running Canada pays more, do you have experience or just out of school/just starting to run solo?, pulling dry box/flat/reefer?,  how many miles?, pre-tax gross pay?? I have grossed $6000 in a month as a company driver and I have grossed $3000 as an O/O. some months a great and some suck. you don't have to be an o/o to make good money and you don't have to be a company driver to have a bad month.
