  1. I would try and do it yourself. Oil changes are fairly easy. You could get Mobil 1 and a filter for $25-$30 versus $60+ for someone to do it for you

  2. Consult your owner's manual for the required oil for your VW.  Using an oil not VW certified will void your warranty.

  3. all dealership are pricey  for everything because they are certify but jus take  it some where that you trust and its cheap

  4. Yes.  Expect $60-$70.

You're permitted under your warranty to have service performed elsewhere, where you can expect $40-$45 for synthetic.  Just tuck the receipts into the manual in your glove box, in case your engine blows up and VW gives you a hard time about non-dealer preventive maintenance.

You might also check the manual.  My last Jetta was the previous generation, but it didn't require synthetic oil, and that was the high output V6 model.  If you can use regular oil, you'll cut that bill by $20 or so.

  5. Yes.

You really do not need synthetic oil unless you have the Jetta GLI, which has the turbocharged engine.

JiffyLube costs around $50 for synthetic oil change.

Regular oil is around $34 at JiffyLube.

The dealership is more expensive and mechanic shops are cheaper than JiffyLube.
