I started work on May 16th, payroll ended on 22nd, everyone gets a check on 25th for the last two weeks. I am told they are withholding my first check (for one week worked) so if i ever quit i have one paycheck comming. Basically every one got paid for the week of 16th thru 22nd but me. Is this legal? I am in Texas. My fist take home paycheck will be comming on 07/09 for the last two weeks (23rd june thru 06th of july)

  1. It is legal and pretty common not to get paid on the first payday if you started very late in the pay period, and you did.

  2. Every company has there rules for first pay checks.what you wrote is normal and its legal to.

  3. Call the Texas Workforce Commission at 1-800-832-9243 (within Texas only) or (512) 475-2670 (from anywhere) for assistance with this issue.

  4. yes its legal... no not every company does that i have been lucky enough never to be in a situation like that..... but dont worry it will be alright

  5. EVERY company does that. They wanna make sure since you just started your not going to have take a check or two and leave! When you leave or get fired you will get that other check back. Don't worry, you'll get it. Happens to everyone unless your under the table.

  6. I'm guessing you meant you started work on June 16th-and yes it is legal. I work for a company that gets paid every 2 weeks also, and if you start at the wrong time, you won't get your paycheck for a month.
