First round pick Teuvo Teravainen shows his talent at the Chicago Blackhawks camp –NHL Prospects Update
Teuvo Teravainen, a No.18 pick in the first round of National Hockey League (NHL) draft left a very good impact on the players and the coach at Chicago Blackhawks’ week-long prospects’ camp. And the thing that is making people much more interested him and
making him promising is his young age that is just 17.
Teravainen plays for Helsinki, Finland based Jokerit team of the SM-Liiga (second strongest league in the Europe) but he was at Chicago Blackhawks of Central Division of the NHL, based in Illinois, Chicago, for the training. He would be heading back to Finland
to spend at least one more year with Jokerit.
Chicago Blackhawks General Manager, Stan Bowman thinks that the 17-year-old has got a lot of talent and he will improve a lot. The Finn has a lot to offer because of the fact that he was best in the camp even though he was the youngest.
The 39-year-old, Vice-President and General Manager of Chicago Blackhawks also indicated that it might not be too far away when we would see Teravainen or other top prospects of Chicago Blackhawks, 19-year-old Mark McNeill (18th overall in the
1st round of 2011 draft), 19 years-old, Phillip Danault (26th overall in the 1st round of 2011 draft) and 20-year-old, Kevin Hayes (24th overall in the 1st round of 2010 draft).
On Friday, the last day of the prospects’ camp, Bowman said,
"The timeframe on that you don't really know, but it's exciting to see them here. They've got great talents. Some of them are offensive players, like (Teravainen) is, and then you've got players like McNeill, Danault and Kevin Hayes that are maybe bigger
guys who play a different game. We've got a lot of options there, depending on how you want to play it. I think we've seen in the last couple drafts we've gotten some guys who are going to be high-end players. Some of them aren't too far away, which is a good
thing for us."
Teravainen should easily be considered among the group of these three players and expected to do something for Chicago Blackhawks after finishing his contract with his present team, Jokerit.
