Hello! I live in Britain and Ive just finished my A levels. Im planning to go travelling in Febuary for 7 months and ill be 19 then. I know that im going to travel a lot, hopefully, during my life and there's a lot of places i want to go, my problem is i dont know where to start! I dont want to try to do too many places and not see them all properly. I know there are dangerous aspects about all places. My main decision is whether to do developped areas such as Australia and parts of Europe or whether to do project work in Asia and Africa, i know the project work is more charitable than travelling Oz for fun, but im scared about the fact that its my first time travelling alone and that parts of asia and africa are unstable and dangerous?! I also think i need to have some time to myself as i had a hard year last year in many ways and volenteering may mean i cant just do the things i want to do?! Any advice would be great??! thanks

  1. The world is really open to you, depending on the answers to a few questions:

How much money have you got?

What kind of experience do you want to have?

It's good that you understand that travelling can be dangerous, that gives you a better chance of staying away from danger, but bear in mind you can never be totally distant from danger anywhere. Is there anybody you can persuade to travel with you?

Going to developed areas can still be a rewarding experience, it sounds like you should be leaning in that direction and then once you're more confident with travel, to then go and look for more adventurous and unusual destinations.
