First speeding ticket jail????wtf?

okay i got a speeding ticket for going more than 30(and technically i was going less than 30) back when i was 17. now when i go to court being 18 they just told me to state not guilty so i can go to trial because otherwise i may have jail time. jail time, you cant have jail time on a first offense especially if you are underage at the time of the incident help me!

  2. You go to jail if you don't have money to pay the ticket.  It is like debtor's prison.

  3. You /can/ have jail time if that is what the judge thinks. Stop trying to be higher then the law and follow the speed limits closer.

  5. Thats completley true. Who told you to plea that? even if you go to trial you should not have to go to jail. ESPECIALLY if it is a first Offense in the US. At the most you should pay a fine or do community service. I would have a free consultation with a lawyer if you are worried. Goodluck.
