First time Pro-Bowler and Green Bay Packers FB John Kuhn disappointed with missing Pro-Bowl due to injury - NFL News
To be named for your first career Pro-Bowl game and play amongst some of the best players from around the National Football League (NFL) is a feeling that most players dream about throughout their careers.
However, Green Bay Packers' fullback, John Kuhn is feeling even worse.
The 29-year-old was named for his first Pro-Bowl game this year and would be in Hawaii with the rest of the stars, if not for his injured knee.
The fullback developed a knee sprain during Green Bay’s encounter with the New York Giants in the playoffs' divisional round.
Kuhn was taken off the field in the third quarter and would see off the remainder of the game from the bench as the Giants defeated their National Football Conference (NFC) rivals, 37-20.
Kuhn remains at Lambeau Field and reports each day for rehabilitation and exercise and will be out for at least two months due to the injury while a deserted training facility does nothing to lift the spirits of the Pro-Bowler.
“It’s kind of eerie,” Kuhn said. “There’s nobody here. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that for a serious knee injury it’s about as good as you could hope for.”
The feeling of not making his first Pro-Bowl has hit the fullback hard and Kuhn is disappointed of being stuck in Green Bay in the cold while his teammates enjoy the sunshine and atmosphere of the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.
“It’s a bit of a downer, I’d like to have gone,” he said.
“Rather than going and taking a risk with it, I want to get my knee right. I will be 100 percent by June. That’s when OTAs start. That’s what I’m working toward.”
Adding further, Kuhn said:
“Now we’ll work on the range of motion over the next eight weeks, get the swelling down and get back to full strength. By the time everyone else gets here for the offseason conditioning program in April I’ll be finishing up.”
Aaron Rodgers and the rest of Green Bay Packers' Pro-Bowl stars are already in Hawaii and taking in the sights and sounds before starting preparations for the big game.
Packers would be disappointed not being in Indianapolis right now and preparing for the Super Bowl XLVI after losing just once in the 2011-12 regular season.
Now they will prepare for the Pro-Bowl and hope to overcome their American Football Conference (AFC) rivals when the two sides meet on Sunday, January 29th, 2012.
