  1. wow.

  2. The Burning Crusade is an expansion for the base game, World of Warcraft.  To play BC you'll need to buy both.  And in order to play Blood Elf or Draenei races, advance past level 60, or set foot in the really cool Outland world, you'll need Burning Crusade.

BC only expands the game, it isn't a separate game, so yes, if you play a character on original WOW then upgrade to Burning Crusade, you'll still keep your character.  BC was such a massive and good expansion, it really has become what WOW is all about, so if you don't have BC and plan to play a lot, you'll be missing out on half the game.

If magic is your weapon of choice, you have a few options depending on your preferences:

MAGE:  Fire, Ice, and Arcane magic... lots of powerful, long-range attacks and area of effect spells.  Very powerful, yet pretty fragile (cloth-wearer). Typical mage type stuff.

SHAMAN:  Elemental magic (Fire, Water, Air, Earth)... very versatile jack-of-all-trades.

WARLOCK:  If evil and demonology is your style, this is the class for you.  Lots of long-range, soul-sucking dark magic, plus you get demons for pets.  Very powerful and very despised in PvP.

HUNTER:  Though not particularly a heavy magic user, the hunter excels at long range, and a good hunter with a good pet should rarely even get touched in PvE.  Primary weapon is bow or gun.

  3. Yes, the Burning Crusades is an add-on, so you'll want both if you want access to all the features everyone else is using.

As for what class to use, once you have the game, you have ten different slots for characters - meaning you can make ten different characters. Experiment with race/class combinations and find one that feels best for you. When I was first starting out, I loved the hunter because, at level 10, you get a pet, so it's like you always have help but don't have to share the experience for it :-) It takes some patience, but once you find one that feels good, get that up to level 20 or so and see how you feel about it. It takes more xp to level the higher you go, so it can start feeling tedious after a while, but be patient and stick with it. Usually, if you're still feeling like it's boring and tedious by level 20, that's a good sign it's time to try out a different class.

For instance: the first time I tried a paladin, I gave up on it around level 12 when the game got a bit harder. But later on, I tried again, and now my paladin is my highest-level character.

    Hope this helps!

  4. Im going to leave this short.

Buy World of Warcraft first. Burning Crusade is an expansion pack to WoW, only buy TBC when your level 60.

Play Hunter for sure (Its not heavily magic based). Its the best starter class, it kills fast, easy to level with, you have a pet, you can melee and ranged damage is insane with a 35-41 yrd range. Trust me on this one Hunter is the class you want.

Good Luck and heres an additional site to help you choose http://www.thottbot.com < Its used by most WoW players. Its just a database of everything on WoW. You can get quest help, armour, class talents, what abilities each class has, weapons and lots more.

Oh and heres a very important piece of information. EACH class has a WEAKNESS and YOU WILL get bored at around 40-50 of any class you play. But if you quit to start a new class you'll find yourself in a worst position so just choose one and go for it. Blizzard constantly update the game so players remain happy so don't think that you picked the wrong class.

  5. sword

  6. duh the burning crusade adds to the game it's the expansion pack. You need to get burning crusade for additional characters, level 70 cap, and more places like the outlands. I'd play a rogue, mage, shaman, or warlock if you want some fun and hard hits.

  7. Get the WoW/Burning Crusades deluxe edition, it comes with useful guide books.

As for what toon to start, i would suggest a druid. Druids can be configures to be feral tanks (Dire Bear form) damage per second melee

(cat Form) DPs Casters in plate Armor (Moonkin form) or healers Tree of Life form).

Druids are the Swiis Army knife of the game. All druids can assume bear (dire bear at higher levels) cat (Panther) travel form (Cheetah -40% faster movement) and aquatic form (Seal-50% increase in swimming speed) All of these forms have the capability to save your life when the going gets tough.

Moonkin and Tree of life have special abilities as DPS casters and healers respectively.

Cat gives you the ability too Prowl, that is to sneek up on your enemy and using other special abilities deal massive damage.

Bear is used in endgame for tanking, and has increased health and armor (400% increase in armor) Moonkin is a DPS caster, with additional buffs to your team mates, and has the same armor as a bear. Normally, casters wear light armor, the Moonkin, properly geared, has almost as much armor as a warrior, the best protected class in the game along with the paladin.

When my dru was speced as a moonkin, he was dropping close to 3000 hp oof damage with one spell, and stunning the target as well.

Now speced as feral, he can take on and hold the attention (aggro) of 6 or seven elite mobs while taking only a modest amount of damage.

Mr. Kitty has a reputationfor sneaking up behind unsuspecting bad guys and ripping them to shreds before they even know he's there.

And it's just cool to be able to shift form and capability with the touch of a button =)

Chanur lvl 70 NE Druid Officer of One For All on Lothar.
