  1. sorry i dont know what to suggest as confused usually check most of the companies around. how about ringing a couple and giving them a lower quote then what you have, and ask them to beat it. worth a try. good luck.

  2. I'm 17 and on a provisional at the moment. I got a 1993 Peugeot with a 1.9 and as you can imagine, was a nightmare to find insurance for. I found one called Quinn Direct. They quoted me £500 a month (with my father as the main driver) and that would go up to a £1000 with a full license.

Give it a try I suppose, I assumed insurance for a Mk.3 1.0 Fiesta would be peanuts.

  3. Hello there. if you have a helpful parents get them to insure it under your name.

  4. £1899 does seem steep, unless you live in a high risk area.

Is that fully comp or third party?

I would try the usual confused.com etc but also try direct line as they don't list on the search engines.

Do not put it in your parents name if it is your car as they could refuse to indemnify you if you have an accident. Its best to build but no claims as well.

One thing that can reduce the premium, is if you put an exepreinced driver as named driver on the policy such as you Mum ot Dad. I tried to take my Mum off mine a few years ago and it would have actually put the premium up by £60 a year!!!

  5. try the advanced driving test and also motorwaydriving courses all bring the price down not a lot granted but a little but £1800 seems a lot.

  6. You can try this company - http://autoinsurance.maclenet.com - I personally have their car insurance (London). As I know they have more affordable insurance policies for teens and first time drivers.

  7. so far as they are concerned, a new, young male driver is going to bend his car.  you can reduce the premium by choosing a very high "excess" (that's the amount you will pay of each claim)

it may be possible to get a reduction with some companies if you only drive a few thousand miles each year, eg 3000

1899 seems high, I think this company is telling you that it does not want your business!

A broker like Swintons will be able to advise you better than going direct to an insurance company.
