Tomorrow I am going down hill skiing with my friends, one of my friends skis and one snowboards and they are really experienced. They say the baby hill is really small but I am so scared to try. Any tips for first time skiiers?

  1. just try we will help you lol luv ya kaylie

  2. Everyone who skis had a first day.

Have lessons - it will make the process much easier.  You will not work it out yourself, and your friends will not know how to teach.

  3. Friends don't teach friends to ski.  Lessons can be expensive but worth every penny.  Take lessons!

  4. Take a package lesson with equipment and lift ticket, with the option to upgrade to several lessons. To any experienced skier the beginner lift is "flat" toa first time skier the flat hill is extremely steep.  The instructor will guide you to a steeper and steeper comfort zone and also a steeper terror zone as you gain skill.

Typical time is 1-4 hours of lessons to ride a beginners chair lift, you may need several more hours to have this ride a comfort zone rather than a challenge.

Do not take lessons from your friends if you want to keep them.  Remember taking driving lessons from a parent?

  5. **Borrow everything including lift pass** for new comer

    You will need

    NOT TO DO

over dress or under dress, no thick cotton underwear. You will sweat like h**l

Snowbroad is not for beginner unless you are a love bird who doesn't mind to have a bloody nose.

Choose skiing, you will have better control, in average learn time at least two and half hours on the baby hill before you dare to go up on the lift.

    Must Do

Bring food, snack and (hot)drink and Kleenex. It is very expensive and the food take too long to delivery from the toilette to the counter over there.

Ski jacket, ski pants, scalf , ears mug, helmet and sun glasses is a must

Wrist protector(like the one for the rollar-blade) you will fall down alot in the first hour and it is painful without the protector.

Small inexpensive digital camera for the snap shots of haven

    Technical

make sure there no snows stick under your boots before you snap on your skiis

And understand best thing come last.

    enjoy!

  6. to go slow since your a beginning, go "pizza style" which means just point your tips slightly towards one another, and just make lots of turns, dont point your skis straight down

im sure you and your friends will have a lot of fun!

  7. take a lesson, it will save you hours of frustration. the beginners hill is the only place to start, anywhere else, you are risking injuring yourself or others.

If you don't take a lesson, ask someone to show you how to "snowplow". its where you put the tips of your skiis together and the backs of your skiis are pointed outward. This creates a natural "breaking" stance, more control, less speed. If you ever find you are going to fast, and feel out of control, just sit down.

skiing is great fun, but dangerous, where I live (colorado rockies) we have about 5 deaths a year from people hitting trees or lift poles.
