  1. Other answers are good as far as flight time, nervousness, etc.

To address your question about a hijack or crash:  There are about 30,000 flights per day in the US.  The last hijacking in the US was in 9/2001 and the last crash in the US was in 10/2001 - both about 7 years ago.  So that would make your odds of either approximately 1 in (30,000 times 365 times 7), or about 1 in 77 million.  You're afraid of this because flying is new to you, which is normal.  But logically, you should be relaxed about the flight and scared of the drive from your house to the airport.

  2. On your ticket, it should say how long a flight it is from NC to NY. It will tell you where you are stopping, how long it takes to get to each place and when you will arrive.

To ease yourself from being nervous, just think about how much fun your going to have when you get there. Think of things you would like to see or do. Make a list, read a book, do something to take your mind off it. You will see, once you are on the plane it is very exciting and relaxing. Take a deep breath and just enjoy the experience.

  3. dont worry about it jet blue is one of my favorite airlines since they have the tv in all the seats with actualy good channels....you should be occupied by that it wont be that bad and will take your mind off of being nervous. The chances of the plane being hijjacked are very rare they have such good security now nothing can get passed. Have a safe trip good luck

  4. Just relax, have fun. Think about what you could be doing instead of worrying. Look outside the window and enjoy the scenery.

  5. Don't be nervous,  hundreds of people fly everyday and nothing goes wrong.  There is more chance of being in a car accident then there is of a plane crashing and there is more chance of someone holding you hostage at school then a plane being hijacked.

To help make sure you take something to read,  or take your ipod to listen to your music.  Take gum or lollies to suck on to help ease presser on your ears when you take off and talk to the person next to you.

Good Luck and enjoy your flight.

  6. bring your Ipod or music player along and listen to your favorite songs. The trip would be 1.5 to 2.0 hours. Most likely a little more than that. I can guarantee that your airplane will not be hi-jacked or crash. Pilots are intensively trained to fly under every possible emergency situation until they can do it right.  Try looking up on how airplanes fly. It might make you less nervous. What your are fearing is what you do not know. Think of the air like water, and instead of being on an airplane, pretend your on a boat. The air is a lot like water in the way airplanes fly. Throughout the flight, you might have a little turbulence. But at the most, the plane drops from 5-20 feet, even though it feels more than that. Like on a boat, you get choppy water, which causes it to bounce back and forth. It's basically like what an airplane does. Your not going to fall out of the sky. Even if you lost all engine power (very unlikey) you would still be able to glide in for a landing. All airlines are required to work under FAA standards. So you don't have to worry about ANYTHING. And if you get into some choppy air, pretend your on a rollar coaster.
