  1. i'm not gunna say i'm an expert on this but i've had my fair share of cavites. lets jus say i've had a lot. they really are not that bad. it totally depends on your dentist.

so first they call your name and you sit in the chair. and wait for the dentist. some times it takes awhile. try not to look at the needle when you sit down. if ur afraid. i kno i was the first time. then the dr will come in and check out the tooth and then he'll numb your tooth. if its small they may not have to. but depending on where the tooth is they will inject close to the tooth. honestly its a little prick. i didn't even feel it. my dentist is really gentle and urs may be as well. they will let it sit for a few minutes. if ur not numb let them kno. the they get the drill and start to get rid of the decay. its jus a weird vibration feeling. and the sound is annoying. so bring ur ipod if they don't supply music/videos. then fill them with either white/silver fillings. mine are the white ones.(they are more expensive but are worth it in the end. then they let it sit. and then u rinse ur mouth out and thats it. its really not that bad. doesn't really hurt the day after. jus feel weird.

    good luck

  2. I am Dentist, truthfully, People usually exaggerate a lot when it comes to numbing and filling, i will be honest with you, nothing hurts at all, you put your self into a lot of tension, when everything is just as simple as 123, don't panic and just think of something else while he is working. and about pain, trust me there is no pain at all. Media made people so afraid from dentist, but usually they are so kind. I wish i would have made you feel just better. :)

  3. Being 15, I can sympathise: I had my teeth numbed when I got braces (God, did I need them!) and it doesn't hurt at all sweetie.

But I've not had any cavities, but my brother has, and he claimed it didn't hurt or anything, but then again, he's a guy...

But still, I'm guessing it won't hurt for more then a few hours after the procedure (and you won't feel a thing during it, the numbing stuff really works!!)

  4. First and foremost you have to be calm and try not to worry about it so much, you'll be fine. The dentist will more than likely put some topical anesthesia on your gum before he gives you the Lidocaine anesthesia, therefore you may not even feel the prick of the needle. After he gives you the injection you will start to feel numb(you will think you are swollen but you're not). With the drill, you hear a lot of noise and there will be a lot of water but they will have the suction in the mouth to take out the water. Drilling out the cavity can be as short as 5 seconds and as long as a couple of minutes. Once he drills out and cleans the decay from the tooth, he will put in some creams(cavity liners for protection) and then put in the filling. After all, he will shape the filling to match your bite and that's it, you're done. You'll be numb for about 3 hours after but there should be no pain afterwards. The whole process should take about 20-30 minutes. Good Luck!!

  5. Getting the shot in your cheek to numb your mouth kind of hurts. After that you dont feel anything. Getting a filling is really quick and painless. A root canal, thats a different story.
