This is my first time hosteling. I'm leaving for Italy tomorrow. I don't know about the hostels in Italy. I'm going to be there for 3 weeks.

1. Should I pack heavy or light?

2. Should I bring a big case?

3. Can I leave a suitcase at the hostel?

4. Do they have lockers?

Please help Yahoo Answers Community! Any other suggestions that I can't think of will be appreciative!

  1. as in any place.. like that BE CAREFULL.. there are all sorts of people roaming around.. many of them don't take showers either.

Also , it depends on the city... Torino is safer, probably than Roma, or Firenze.

I have been to the hostel in Milano, it was great!

    Buona fortuna!!

  2. Ciao, i'm italian, from turin...

Ok, 1st, i advice you to dont carry with you heavy thing, expecially if you will walk a lot and you have to carry with you your bag...

a big case.. it depends of how much you will stay here..

don't exaggerate, but at least bring some pair of socks and underwear..!! =P

Yes, i think there are no problem if you leave your suitcase in the hostel.. at the most i could advice you to lock it if you have a lock or how the h**l is the name of that thing that you use to lock the bag.. =p i need some english practise.. =p

Lockers... what is a locker.. let me check on the diciotanry.. ****.. where the h**l is the dictionary... ahh locker ok found it...

beh, yes, i think they have it... i hope.. =p

anyway.. have lot of fun here..!! =D

    send me a card!! =P

    ciao

  3. Hostels in Italy are not like in USA ....

(they cost like a B&B and they are S****y..)

  4. 1. Light, as light as possible. Try not to carry more than 30 pounds (15 kgs).

    2. Carry-on size only please. Or it won't fit under the bed or into the locker.

    3. Yes, most hostels allow that.

    4. About 50% of all hostels have. It is hit-and-miss.

  5. What hostel are you staying at? I suggest you look up your hostel online at hostelbookers.com and make sure that they have lockers. Even if they do- you MUST bring your own padlock. Pack light. I am going for 3 weeks as well, leaving on March 17th. You will most likely have to do laundry while you are there.
