I'm headed to Chicago in October. It's my first time going and I'll be by myself. Any advice? Like where to avoid or any other words of warning. I'll be staying on N. Michigan Ave. Is that a pretty safe place?

  1. If you have to ask that question, you are probably pretty scared of authentic urbanites. My best advice.... Don't come on my side of town, meaning the south or west sides. Don't get on the green line train at all or on the red line train unless it is going north, stick with the blue line and that will take you right where you need to be, the north side or downtown. It's  probably the safest bet for you.

  2. Great time to come here! Its fresh and and clean out. I would head on the red line North up to Wrigleyville and have fun. The cubs will be in the playoffs and all the bars will be packed with great people. Also, enjoy the down town area but don't buy much. Head far west for good stuff, out here you wont pay the high tax like you would down town. Go to Ginos for pizza and Edabevics for some more good food. Both are right by each other. Hope you enjoy our town, I have found nothing like it in the world!!!!!

  3. North Michigan Avenue is a fine location.  You shouldn't have any trouble finding a nice restaurant or shopping.  It is a very good part of town.  Walkable to the Hancock and to Millenium Park.

  4. You are staying the heart of Chicago

That is one of the best places to stay in...and it is pretty central and near to all major attractions.

It is pretty safe there but do take care of the basic safety rules and you should be fine
