  1. Jet star is the budget airline of qantas. So will probaably be quite a bit cheaper but budget airlines although usually ok they don't normally include meals but you can buy food on board and also they don't often have as much leg room.

weather you could encounter some rain but you could also encounter lovely clear blue skies in the low 20s celcius but cooler nights. so a fold up umbrella and a warm jacket .

Sydney is easy to get around with public transport. It's a nightmare to drive around. If you want to hire a car use it to go North The Northern beaches are lovely and the National parks. You can buy an all day runabout ticket which will take you on the buses trains and ferry. Take the commuter ferry up to Parramatta and also over to manly. You will pay a lot more if you do this on a tourist boat. Going up the seaways to parramatta is a lovely trip. Take a look at www.wotif.com.au for deals on hotels. the best deals are only booked about a week before you want them and you can save plenty. Take a trip out to Bondi beach and a stroll around there. And a wander around Darling harbour and the Rocks area to the Opera house. you will see historical places museums Sydneys wild life world  the Maritime museum plenty of eating places and much more . You may want to wander the markets or china town or try your luck at the casino.Your hotel will have many leaflets on what you can do. Have a great trip.

  2. Aloha!

Sydney is a lot cooler than Hawaii. Our coldest months are usually July and August, though we can have some warm days.

There is a bus tour which you can hop on and off, and it goes to most of the main tourist sites in Sydney. There are other areas like Manly, Bondi Beach, and further out of the city, the Blue Mountains etc that are worth visiting if you have a chance. I've included some links to things you can do like the bridge climb (Expensive but worth it. Must pre book). There are also frequent tours of the Opera House (just go there, no need to pre book).

Most hotels have flyers which have lists of attractions with discounts etc if you use their coupons.

You may want to also go to the Hunter Valley (that is a wine growing area... they have tours that go from the city out that way. They have cheese, ballooning etc not just wine.

There's also loads to do on sydney harbour. The ferries are probably the cheapest way to get a tour of the water. Catch one from Circular Quay to Manly, just stay on board and you can ride it all day (as far as I know... though it only goes to those two places). There is a speed boat, dinner boats, champagne harbour cruises etc as well.

You may be able to get a better hotel deal if you book it with your flight, a travel agent or a travel website can help with that.

Have a wonderful trip, enjoy Sydney :-)

*edit- Jetstar is owned by Qantas. I've not flown them, but they have a good reputation.
