so the idea is to create an advice book from experianced mothers. we are using cute card stock to write the advice on at my baby showers (2 different showers) but after that im lost. i would like to make this into a book that i can give to my daughter when she has a baby and that she will be able to add to. my sister suggested a scrapbook, but i have never seen a scrapbook that big that could still be added to that much. i would love for this to be something that i could give my child and have it be a family thing that is contibually handed down.i have never made any type of scrapbook b4. all i am planning on putting in this book is the advice and maybe a few pictures here and there...has anyone done any thing similar and has tips for me? i asked my sister if we could do the advice cards, so i dont want her to feel like she has to be in charge of putting this book together. thanks for any tips.

  1. You could do the index sized cards and put them in photo sleeves that are made to fit in 12x12 albums. You could then add several scrapbook type pages with family pictures (do it sort of like a family tree maybe) grandparents, parents, extended family.. then once baby is born a few pictures and have a few sheets for a picture every year (you could use wallet size to get more a page, but still decorate it cute.)

    Hope that helps!

  2. There is one way but it is not as pretty and that is to buy a recipe book that holds index cards and then recover it to read "A Mother's Love Book Handle with Care".

Now as for a ScrapBook the same thing could apply with a photo album that has slots for cards.

We did a book for my Niece last year that was similar to your suggestion but it was for marital advice. We bought the colored index cards and passed them out at the showers and had everyone put their advice on them signing and dating each one then we cut the cards in various shapes using the decrotive edged sissors and pasted them in a large scrapbook along with pictures with bits and pieces of bows and wrapping paper made into frames around the cards and pictures.  Most of the hints and advice were funny but some were serious. We titled the book " Marriage You Can't Get Divorced Without It". It  turned out great!!! and had requests from other moms on how to make one for their brides to be.
