Ok my daughter is going to be the big one in a couple of months, and Ive picked a theme all ready. but you know how everything comes in a set of eight, like napkins, plates, cups, and etc. so the guest list is about 50 right now, My question is do the adult's have to use the kids plates, cups, and etc?? . Or do I buy bigger plates, and bigger cups??? What about RSVP, does that work??

  1. I went to the dollar store and got the dishes with One on it for the cake and then used the bigger dishes for the food for the adults. Yes- RSVP a week before the party so you know how many are coming. The dollar store is great. They have tablecloths and decorations too! For goodie bags- you can just buy one toy  for each child at dollar store instead of doing goodie bags!

    HAVE FUN AND DON"T STRESS!!!

  2. Oh good gracious....Quit stressing. Don't forget your daughter will never remember this so perfection is not  needed. Wait till she is a teen..then stress.

For all of my kids first birthday's we put a plastic tablecloth on the floor gave them a chocolate cake and let them have at it. A few friends and family are all that is really needed. Too many things going on will make her cranky and uncomfortable......Who cares who uses what size cups and plates.....It is all about letting YOUR DAUGHTER have fun on her day!

  3. For the adults, get them the bigger plates and cups, you can get them ones that match the color of theme that you chose for the party.  Don't worry about that, they'll actually prefer having the bigger cups and plates.  Leave the little ones that go with the themes for the kids.  You can even just do white for the adults.  Honestly, it won't make a difference to them.  You can go to the grocery store and get the ones there and use them.  They're not going to mind, they'll probably prefer it to the little ones and they WILL understand!  They would do the same thing!

As for the RSVP, they do work, but there's always a handful of people that don't call.  Make the date a week before the party, most WILL call you, but for those that don't, you WILL have to call them and find out.  Most people are kind enough to know that you have to know for food and drinks and they will let you know how many, just make sure when you write out the invite, you include all the names of those invited.  People will get confused wondering if just certain members are invited, etc.  Write out everyone's name that are invited to the party and when they rsvp ask them how many are coming so you know for food and drinks.  For those that don't get back to you, the day of the rsvp, or the day after, CALL them and ask them if they are coming, because some people don't rsvp but they will just show up thinking you're just expecting them to be there, like we're mind readers!

It's always better to have more than less when it comes to everything, food, supplies, etc.  You can always use the leftovers and supplies, you can always use at the next party and for the kiddie ones, your daughter can use for her breakfast and lunch during the week, etc.

Do what you can and as for the adults, get them either the colored plates that match the theme or just white.  White goes with everything and they won't mind at all.  As long as the kids are happy, the adults are happy!

You'll do great, don't worry about it!  I would focus on your daughter and the kids, that's what matters for this party.  Yes the adults and feeding them and having the food and drinks for them matters, but making the kids happy is the most important, especially your daughter and it sounds like you've got that down and done already!  You'll do great!  Take a deep breathe and enjoy the party!

I hope you do take some time and have fun, I know what it's like to be so stressed you don't get to enjoy yourself, enjoy your daughter and her party, and I hope she has fun and a very Happy Birthday!

  4. Adults can and do use the childrens plates unless you reallly want to go out and buy more i would suggest larger cups however, Rsvp does work just make sure that your having them rsvp up to 1 week before the party and then take the following 2 days after to make calls to ensure you have everyone on your list that is coming.

And seeing how the baby is only going to be 1 im assuming your having kid friendly foods, but as a suggestion

(Buying a kiddie pool and filling it with ice, and having half for cold beverages, and half for drinks works awesome..  then then if your using glasses the ice is right there, throw some tongs in, and it saves on having table space used,

also fruit shishkabobs are fun for kids too :) and (make your own lunchable area, :)
