Question:

First time on upside down rollercoasters?

I'm going with my school to an amusement park next month and I've never been on a roller coaster with loops. My biggest fear is getting nauseous on the ride and ruining the rest of my day.

I plan on taking some motion sickness medication before riding and not eat a heavy meal beforehand.

My question is should I close my eyes or not at the loops?

Some people say that when you close your eyes at a loop you don't even notice your upside down.

But others have said that closing your eyes will make you more sick because it adds to the disorientation.

I dont plan on closing my eyes the whole time...just at the loops if that will help me not get sick. Does anyone with personal experience have an answer?

  1. just try not to eat that much before you ride or wait at least an hour...... and if you close your eyes you WILL get sick......cause if your eyes are open you can anticipate the next turn or loop and you can prepare yourself.....

    Hope I helped

  2. Do you like rollercoasters at all? Are you used to them? You dont need to close your eyes, it doesnt really matter. A rollercoaster doesnt last long. After the ride, just breathe, walk around, have a drink and get your mind off dizzyness. Talk, laugh and have a good time

  3. don't close ur eyes because it will make it even more scary!!! i was afraid my first time too!  just sit with a friend and have a good time!

hope this helps & good luck!! :-D

  4. Hey :D

I had EXACTLY that problem a couple of years ago, so i understand how you feel :)

What i think you should do is:

-Get up on the day that you are going to the amusement park and have some breakfast, make sure you do because it will keep you going...if you dont have anything and go on lots of coasters-that will make you feel poorly :( so just have something like a slice of toast or some cereal :D

-If you get car sick then have some motion sickness tablets for the journey there and for the rides, but if your not i really wouldnt worry about it!

-Before you leave, get a backpack ready have whatever your taking in it...i reccomend taking a bottle of water with you, or you can buy some at the a,usement park :D

-On the way there, dont get all panicy! just look forward to it! The chances are that if you work your self up too much you wont end up going on it.

-What i would do when you are on the ride is tell yourself you will be fine, 3/4 of the time its our minds that make us feel sick lol...if you keep telling yourself im gunna throw up im gunna throw up, the chances are you will lol so just..dont :)

-When i went on my first loop coaster my natural reaction was to close my eyes, and i didnt even know i was upside down! it was fun! then the next time i went on it i opened them and i was totally fine!

I went on a 10 loop coaster lol so i get what you mean, and im not car sick so i think if your not you'll be fine!

-If you do feel ill when you get off sit down, have a drink and dont go on any more rides until you feel better!

[If you want to close your eyes you can, and if you dont want to..dont! honestly its totally up to you, and dw about what others say, everyones different! :D]

Im sure it wont ruin your day!

i hope you have a great time!!

    Luv from Babygal :D

  5. Going on a looping roller coaster is awesome! At first, I wondered if I was ever going to stay in my seat, but rest assured that I did stay seated and I loved the loops. One time, I kept my eyes open, and I barely realized I was upside down. You'll have a lot of fun; if you truly have motion sickness, then it's probably not a good idea to go, but don't scarf down on foods before you ride. Drink a little water, too. Try to keep your eyes open and find the thrill hidden from within the ride. If you feel a little nauseous, take a few deep breaths and don't panic. Overall, have fun! That's the most important part.

  6. yea i get motion sick really easy and the first time i went on one with loops was with my school i did not take any medician and i had jus finished eating but i closed my eyes at the loops but i would close my but be sure to not open the back up till the loop is over or you will no ur in a loop because thats what i did also you wont no u r in a loop if u close ur eyes !!!! hope that helps

  7. There is one thing you need to do, take your mind off the coaster itself.. When the ride reaches the top of the hill and starts to decend start screaming.. when you start to think about what is going on that will be when you get sick.. I had my daughter get on the super dooper looper at hershey when she was 6.. as soon as we hit the top of the hill i had her scream the whole way through(didnt get sick) and now she loves all coasters.. soo just rememeber take your mind off of it... no need for meds

  8. sit at the front, that way you can see the track in front of you and you know where its heading next. oh by the way, loops are nothing to be worried about, its just being upside-down for about 3/4 seconds, you dont feel it if youre going fast

  9. i recommend not closing your eyes!! i think it adds to the motion of being upside down!! i have the same problem as you and get motion sick and when ever i am moving and close my eyes i feel sick!! i would also take some motion medication!!(not too much!!)
