First time owner of parakeet?

Question

It is the third day since I got my budgie which is now called Piper. I have just gotten her to step onto my hand by saying "up" and lightly pushing her when I noticed one of her back legs was dark in color like greyish black instead of pink. Is something wrong with her? (It's the leg that has the ring on it)

Unless she cannot get up or sit on a perch(which you said she can get up on your hand) there is absolutely no problem.  I applaud you for being so observent

That doesn't sound good!  Is the leg still warm like it's supposed to be?  Does the band look like it's on tight?  Sometimes a bird's leg band can cut off circulation to the leg and need to be cut off by an avian vet.  They would be able to do it without hurting the bird and also tell how badly the leg is hurt.

I have had many birds and that is ok for know but call a clinic and
