First time owner?

a few q's for the ones that know? i have a 1976 trihull with a 165 mercruiser, gm 250 block strait 6, i was wondering what type of engine oil and what type of power trim pump fluid shuld i use, the boat will be used in fresh water

  1. I just purchased a 1985, 19' Runabout, with a Mercruiser 140, 4 cylinder.  I changed the oil the other day.  A person that has been boating for years told me to treat that engine just as you do your car.  He told me to just use 5W30 engine oil and to change it more often than you would your car.

    I am guessing a standard power trim pump fluid is available at most marine dealers.  I have had to replace mine yet.  They may even have some at WalMart.  I noticed they had oil and everything else for marine motors.

  2. That old of an engine use 30 w SAE>  Use trim fluid from the manufacture>
