  1. Ok,im kinda new too and i know how u r feeling.First of all,go to like Toys  R  Us and buy a 40 dollar board(make sure it has the double dipped ends).NOTE:This board is ONLY for starting out skateboarding.

Ok then get some Airwalks or sumthing.Once u have these things go somewhere private(if you dont want people to see that u JUST started skating)and practice the Ollie. Now,the ollie is where u put ur back foot on the tail and front foot in the middle of the board(probobly about 3 or 4 inches from the front bolts). Now,Pop down on the tail of the board and jump, but at the same slide your front foot up the board until it reaches the front bolts then stomp down on the board.

NOTE:This trick is very frustrating and will take about 2 weeks or so of constant practice to learn.

Now then, once u get that down try doign it while moving....this will be kinda hard too but keep practicing.

Ok now when u got the ollie down u can start looking like a skater(if u want to)

    Shoes:C1RCA,DC Shoes,DVS,Etnies,Globe,Dekline,Fallen,Va... plenty more.

Skateboards:I recommend my personal favorite,Real Skateboards.

Other skateboards:Element,FLIP,Darkstar,Alien Workshop,Girl,Almost, and theres plenty more.

Some websites that u can buy skate stuff from:www.zumiez.com

OK,that pretty much it.When you start to get more familiar with the Sk8ing world, try more tricks...like the Pop Shuv-It,Kickflip,Aerial Flip,Manuel,Nose Manuel,50-50 Grind, and so on.

You can find out how to do these trick on Youtube (of course)

  2. If you really are serious about skating then dont worry so much about brands. Buy a cheap pair of skate shoes, and a skateboard. I would recomend you buy a nice skateboard so you can get use to the feel of it. Dont waste your money on a crapy cheap board from Wal-Mart or anything.

Next, just practice riding on the board down the street every day until you get a good feel for the balance. I also would not hurt to buy some protective equipment such as a helment, knee guards and wrist guards etc. Again dont worry about brands when buying this stuff, just make sure you get a good deal.

Once you get better, go out and mix it up with some skaters at the park. Get opinions on what they like and dislike. Get tips on how to do tricks. You will be suprised on how many people will be willing to lend advice to a beginner (especially since you are a female).

I would not worry about what people at local skate shops recommend you buy seeing as how they will most likely be more concerned on getting you to buy the more expensive brands. The most important thing to know about learning how to skate is that it takes A LOT of dedication and practice.
