I would like to find out how to skate... What type of skateboard, trucks, wheels, etc. I'm pretty new to it, and what stuff do I need, and is there any videos that could help me? Thanks.

  1. well buddy go to ccs.com and they have basically the best stuff u can use...also just look up youtube tutorials about skating.. ALWAYS learn how to ollie first then spins and flips...just keep it up and DONT GIVE UP and its also gonna take LOTS of trying

  2. first of all go to a skatestore and get a store brand complete skateboard, they should be around 40-70 bucks

also, get this dvd called tony hawk's trick tips

find it at your local skatestore or ebay.com, or even ccs.com if they have it

  3. for your first time you don't have to spend money on all the greatest stuff. anything will do. what is a good option though especially for good equipment is asking around to see if people have extra parts. usually a lot of people do its just that for their standard of skating their parts have become obsolete. for you though, its perfect.

if you cant find a deck but you can find trucks/wheels/everything else, get a blank at your skateshop or online.

after that, get used to riding and pushing regular. use your back foot, not your front foot. this is called mongo and apart from looking retarded, it will help you in the future when you get better, and for going faster.

then, when you're comfortable, learn how to ollie. youtube/skateboarding forums/skateboarding.com those will all help. go to the skatepark and ask dudes to help.

thats the hard part. then when you think you're off, you're not. while the pop shove it and 180 are simple, when you go to do a flip trick those will not be easy either. it takes persistence.

THEN, when you have your flick developed, and scoop, more tricks are just combining those 3.

the best thing though, i would say, is to skate with better people and they will help you advance rapidly!!!!!!

  4. If its your first time nothing really expensive.  check out your local sports stores some sell relatively ok skateboards at a decent price.  don't forget safety gear like your helmet and some pads, major injuries prevent new timers from continuing the sport.  If you need help getting started ask some friends to help you out or to start with you.  You can alsoo do the usual trial and error then get back on the board thing.

  5. Buy a skateboad at your local skateshop, buy there boardshop type decks. You know if the shop was boardsport then the decks say boardsport on them. They are great decks and cheap. You could buy from ccs, skateamerica, activemailorder, or any online skateshop. For a great complete it should cost around $120. Get the boardshop deck, krux, tensor, thunder, or Independent trucks. For wheels get ricta's, spitfires, or autoban wheels. Bones reds bearings. And either mob or jessup grip tape. Mob grip has hole poked into it so it doesn't have air bubbles when  you put it you.And the hardware doesn't matter.  Tony Hawks tick tips helped me. And if you want any good skate vids get almost round 3 and lakai fully flared. get a protec helmet and get shin guards, my shins used to get destroyed from skating. Good luck. Email me at "cavedwellin@yahoo.com" if you have any questions on how to ollie ect..
