If it helps, I already have a little experience with skiing, but this year, for our yearly school trip to the mountains, I have decided on switching to snowboard. I also figure skate, so if that helps with anything. Is there any tips about snowboarding, like how snowboard, or how to stop? Any suggestions and answers are appreciated!

  1. the most important part is knowing how to stop.  when you first put on your board and your at the top of the hill it will be sideways.  that is how you want your board to be when you stop.  when you stand up try sliding down the hill slowly with your board sideways, lean back to dig the edge in so that it stops you.  when you come to a stop you will probably fall backwards but no worries its just part of getting used to standing on the board.  to go down the hill turn the tip if the board so that its pointing down the hill.  to stop just push your back foot out and lean back slightly.  just keep doing this till you feel like you have control of stoping.  when you feel comfortable with that you can try carving, that's when you turn  back and forth in an s pattern.  to turn on your toe side you have to push your back foot out and lean on your front foot with a little more of your weight.  the best way to learn is to practice.  you can read all you want but you will do a lot better by trying it, and when your not quite sure about something, just go for it.  but don't be stupid, stick to the small hills.  good luck and have a good time.

  2. Get some wrist guards and some impact shorts, they are a must for any learner.

Also expect to fall abit on the first couple of days, its gets less and less as the days pass.Once you manage to link your turns you are halfway there.

Dont forget to bend your knees, just like you do in skiing and also dont put to much wait on your front leg try and be balanced as much as you can, this will help you steer it better and also maybe stop you from catching an edge

I started off skiing but now i dont think i could go back to it.

Both are fun sports, enjoy the mountain whatever you choose to do.

  3. haha i just tried this yr but man it hurts wen u fall!!!!!! i only made it down the bunny hill @ PR 3 times and it took an hour and then i switched to skis and i didnt fall once

  4. lean forward, (down the slope) or be centered on the board if you lean back (up the slope) you will slip and fall..  lean a bit forward, bend you knees.. and give it at least 3 to 5 times (days on the slope) before you give up..  turning is done by pushing your back leg..  push even harder to stop..  and be carefull of where you stop.. dont stop around blind corners or hills..

  5. HELMET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... AVOID JUMPS AND RAILS AND DO WIDE TURNS!
