  1. Tan Rio. Bring lotion with SPF protection!

  2. Please do not tan! Those salons have no regulations on the amount of UVA and UVB rays they are putting out. So skin cancer is increasing rapidly among young people who use them.

Any tanning will make you look so much older when you reach 30-40. I know that seems a long way away, but it's not.

Stay safe, be healthy, don't tan unless you use self-tanning lotion and make-up.

  3. To each his own choice on what's better than the other.  With everybody's being made differently, even identical twins, what works for me may not work for you.  I had always heard that this suntan lotion known as BULLFROG was 100% the best; so my husband and I tried it-----then itched like we had a bad case of poision ivy for 2 weeks, but there was never any redness.

Salons are worse than the sun, my cousin who owns a beauty parlor w/ a salon told me that.  It might have something to do w/ getting the right vitamins and stuff from the sun (I'm not 100% sure that's why she confided that to me).

When I was younger I liked suntan lotion  with an SPF of 8, which suited my southern skin just fine.  Now that I'm in my 40's and am finally getting asked for my ID cause I don't look old  do things nor go places (I can still eat at Shoney's for free, they think I'm under 12.  And at McDonald's I can tell the workers to unlock the door to the playground after midnight!)

Don't get my message wrong now!!  The sun does harm your skin too.

My mom died rather young; she went through MANY bouts of skin cancer (where she had to have it burned off) before the doctors learned she had other cancers also {not at the same time}.  She absolutely loved the outdoors: fishing, hunting, volleyball, baseball, spending time at the beach, etc.

I popped out in February with dark skin for a caucasion.  My dad accused my mom of sleeping around because of how dark I was!

For me, tanning came natural as a child 12 months a year!

I've have learned from other family members that we are decendent of an Indian tribe and my mom's grandparents were Indians!

My problem is that the two tribes were oposing onesIf you can't get a tan naturally, don't get one at all!

  4. tanning beds are really bad and give your wrinkles and a high risk of cancer.

lotions, sprays and moisturisers with tanning elements in them are good.

if you your a spay tan or a lotion just make sure you exfoliate so you dont go blotchy

  5. I would definitely recommend getting a spray tan or using fake tanning lotion. Tanning, especially tanning beds, are horrible for you and will make you look so much worse in the long run. Fake tans work almost as well and have no risk of getting cancer. Also, did you know that most people don't think that having a tan makes a person more attractive?

Just so you know, how to use self-tanner:

    1. Get either the lotion kind or the kind that comes in a spray bottle. I recommend L'Oreal or Jergusens.

    2. Take a shower and exfoliate by using a wash cloth or body scrub.

    3. Once you've dried off, apply regular moisturizing lotion. Dry patches of skin absorb tanner unevenly.

    4. Apply the tanner like lotion (or spray it on if it's that kind). Be careful with your ankles, knees, and elbows. Also, know that it darkens as it dries, so only use one coat. Remember to wash you hands immediately afterwards. It should take about 5 minutes to rub in and 15 minutes to dry.

    5. If you have any streaks the next day, use lemon juice to get them off. If you reapply every day for a week and then apply about once a week, it will give you a great, healthy glow.

ALSO: If you've never done it before, you might not want to do it on an afternoon where you have school the next day in case you have some streaks or look a bit too orange. It might take one or two tries before you get a good, even color.

    Hope that helps!
