I would appreciate suggestions for a curriculum that meets the standards for pre-k. This will be an all day, M-W-F class. Thank you for your help.

  1. Any QUALITY curriculum will meet the standards for pre-K.  In my state, we have infant/toddler, pre-K and Kindergarten standards and Creative Curriculum, High Scope, Montessori and other curriculums easily meet those learning standards.  A Christian curriculum that I've used in the past is Abeka.  I'm not sure if they go all the way down to pre-school, though.  Although Creative Curriculum, Montessori and others are not "Christian", I think you could still use these curriculums and add Christian content to them.  They are not "anti-Christian", so to speak.  Good luck with your search.

  2. See websites below for help with curriculum and ideas (including religious activities for lessons, crafts, etc).

    Hope this helps!

  3. Christian or secular?

  4. Being a first time teacher can be daunting - especially when you have no one to guide you!  I would suggest going to this website:  http://www.pre-kpages.com/home.html and clicking on the "For Teachers" tab along the side to get some great ideas on how to run your classroom!  Of course I add in the christian elements as I go along and as it is appropriate for the theme/time of year.  But this website has helped me tremendously in my first few years teaching!  Good luck to you in all you do!

  5. This may be helpful it address religion in a pre K curriculum the rest of the guidelines are standard for pre K expectations.

  7. I'm surprised that the school itself does not at least have some guidelines down for what they want you to teach.

But, since they don't my suggestion as an elementary school teacher is to look at your state's Kindergarten standards or objectives so that you can best prepare your students for Kindergarten.

Look online at your state's education website and look at the K. level.  Focus on reading, writing, & some math.  As an elem. teacher I know that the best thing you can do is send us some Kindergarten-ready students.  =)  It makes a big difference!
