First time trying to play guitar.. How do i read guitar tabs?

Ok, i'm trying to teach my self.. how do you read guitar tabs??

If you are just starting then forget about TABs and learn how to read music... it's not any harder at your level of learning and you will be able to pick up any piano score and play it and you will never want to play some song your like and have to find someone to transcribe it from REAL music to TABS.

get a Mel bey teaching book from your local music shop. It will display the chords and fingering methods. If that is not available, ask the clerks for help.There is a lot to learn in playing guitar, no easy method of becoming a star, just lots of practice. It would help to have someone who plays to show you the methods.

There's everything you need to know online. However, I would go down to the local music shop and buy a book (Ernie Ball's beginner books are great, it's what I started on). It really helped me out when i started and it's what I have my first time students use. It teaches you to read tabs and music as well as basic chords and scales. Plus they're pretty cheap (maybe 5 bucks).
