  1. SKI PANTS SKI PANTS SKI PANTS! first timers wipe out all the time and non-waterproof pants will make you miserable. if its snowing, be sure to have on goggles cause if you pick up speed, youll be unable to see. also, if its snowing, waterproof jacket would be nice. depending on WHERE you're skiing, you may or may not need more clothing. i ski in NC and its pretty hot. a tshirt is fine for me cause i dont usually wipe out. let me tell you though, WET CLOTHES = BAD DAY! also, wear tall socks and DO NOT tighten your boots too much. it may cut off your circulation and when you take them off, you'll want to tear your toes off.

  2. you will for sure need a ski jacket and stuff like that.

  3. Thermal underwear (shirt & pants) si extremely important. Also most cotton shirts won't be warm enough. I would suggest wearing a very thick wool sweater under your ski jacket. You can find ski sweaters at most any good clothing store but make sure it's thick & made of wool. You should have an insulated ski jacket this is waterproof & also ski pants that are also insulated & waterproof, that way they will protect against the cold & wind. You may want a scarf or turtleneck as well or a ski jacket with a high neck. Finally, have a wool ski hat with leather or canvas gloves. Don't be ashamed to wear mittens because they are warmer & get the ones that go up the arm. Finally wear the thickest socks you can find. You can buy all this at a ski shop or a sporting goods store that has ski equip. or try an oudoors store, they usually very warm clothing because of camping & hiking. Wear ski goggles, they will keep the wind & snow out of your eyes & they help keep you warm. Good Luck & enjoy your skiing. Don

  4. Wear something warm and water resistant.  The snow tends to be very wet in March.  I hope you are getting lessons or are going with someone who is good at teaching or you will have a very bad time.

  5. Anything that keeps you dry and keeps the wind out will do

Unless it's -20 out you really don't need to worry about proper fabric and layering

As long as you stay dry(and this includes sweat) you'll stay warm...your body is it's own furnace.

I have tons of ski specific layers; under-armour/climawear/etc which I rarely if ever wear. A good old cotton T and sweater under a gortex jacket does the trick for 99% of my skiing and with march skiing usually that T-shirt under a windbreaker will surfice

  6. uhm i dunno sorry lol

(i dont know why i even answered this question, haha)

    2 points!

    thanks!

  7. You need to dress for the elements. Where will you be skiing?  How cold do you normally get? What is your tolerance?

I ski in MA and NH. I wear long underwear, jeans, and a sweater. I wear thick wool socks. I wear also ski pants and a ski jacket.

You can always take off layers if you find yourself too warm.

I hope you have a great time. I'm sure you will pick it up in no time. My husband has been 3 or 4 times now. He's been doing better steadily. He had a private lesson the first time out. He hasn't had a lesson since then but he's going to take another lesson. I've been skiing since I was in 4th grade. (10 years old)

  8. it doesn't really matter what you wear under your coat but i would wear a short sleeve or a long sleeve then wear a sweatshirt then your coat. (I have only been skiing 3 times!)

  9. snow pants, jacket, helmet, goggles, gloves. oh yea and don't forget your ski stuff.

  10. People are going to tell you to go out and blow $80 on Under Armor....B.S.

For one day you can get away with cotton underlayers. Don't go blowing a boat load of cabage on ski clothes you may never wear again.

You can pick up synthetic fleece hoodies and sweat pants at anywhere from K-Mart to Old Navy nowadays. That stuff is better than cotton for sure, and it's not as expensive as Under Armor, Capaline, Bergalene, etc. etc.

If you want to get snow pants, great. Otherwise nylon windbreaker pants will be fine. For one day you can ski in just about any coat.

If you are going away on a multi-day trip, then you might want to consider stepping up and dropping some clams on some good underwear and ski clothes.
