I have an appointment with a neuro-ophthalmologist because I have double vision on my right field of view. They said it's going to be 3 hours long. What are they going to do? I imagine they are going to do different tests, but are they going to hurt? Anyone have any experience with this?

  1. Never mind and don't be worry.A neurophthalmologic exam consists of examination of your vision, visual field, your eyes movements in different directions,as well as examination of your neurological status which is a usual examination without any harm or pain. You will be asked about the direction in which you have the most amount of double vision. They may use special googles to test the exact type of your double vision and your eyes movement impairment.

By the way in my opinion you are suffering of weakness of your right 6th nerve which may be caused ,depending of your age,by atherosclerosis due to hypertension or demyleinizing diseases such as MS.Any way I suppose they will order a neuroimaging for you to visualize the inside of your head.
