My 1st wedding anniversary is coming up on September 28th and my husband and I are in a tough spot financially. What are some cheap but romantic ideas?

  1. Tradition in our family was to freeze the top layer of the wedding cake. You then thaw it out and enjoy it with a nice romantic dinner for the first anniversary.

  2. Annabelle's answer is good-I would just add some hot outdoor s*x and your day will be perfect!

  3. Pick a room in your apartment or house where you've had the least amount of s*x this past year.

Move the TV and DVD player in there.

Gather all the bedding in the house (pillows, blankets, sheets, etc.) and pile them to make the ultimate soft place as if you're refugees in a war zone or disaster zone.

Order your favorite pizza and pop a bottle of champagne.

Light some candles and strip to your underwear only.

Engorge yourselves on the pizza and drink the bubbly while watching your favorite film.

When you're done eating, break out the massage oil and trade 30 minute massages while finishing the film.

Only one rule:  underwear must stay on until the movie is over.

  4. We went back to where he proposed and gave each other some sort of paper gift (1st anniversary is paper!), which basically meant we gave each other a book that we had been wanting.

  5. I made a candle lit dinner with romantic music for our 1st anniversary.

After dinner we exchanged anniversary cards and made out in the bedroom.

  6. Pack a picnic bag & go to the beach or the park.  Bring some champagne glasses.

  7. My husband and I have been married for 23 years, and I will never forget our first anniversary.  We were SO broke -- I was planning to prepare a special meal that evening for supper .... but he woke me up early that day and told me to dress casually.

He loaded the car and I didn't watch while he did that.  We traveled into the Ouachita mountains not far from our home.  At the top of one of the mountains near a fire watch tower, he spread out the picnic he had packed.

We ate, talked about the future, enjoyed the scenery and enjoyed the company.  It was a pleasant surprise that didn't cost anything except gas.

    Congratulations and best wishes.

  8. Surprise him with his favorite homemade dinner.  Dress up the table, light a bunch of candles and defrost your wedding cake (or make a fabulous dessert)
