First woman assistant manager Kim Ng moves from Los Angeles Dodgers to MLB – MLB News

The Los Angeles Dodgers have maintained their winning streak as they defeated Colorado Rockies 7-1 in their 11th Cactus League game at Salt River Fields in Talking Sticks.
Despite being on a winning track, the Dodgers have lost one team member, their vice president and assistant general manger Kim Ng, the first woman to serve as AM, left the National League West franchise on Monday night, according to sources.
The sources revealed that she left the club to join MLB as vice president of baseball operations. Team officials did not confirm the information.
The 42-year-old Kim served the Dodgers for nine years. Before joining Los Angeles, she has been serving the New York Yankees for three years. She joined the Yankees as assistant general manager at the age of 29 in 1997 and became the youngest MLB manager.
She started her career as special projects analyst with Chicago White Sox as she was the youngest and first woman to appear in salary arbitration cases. Looking at her performance, the White Sox promoted her to assistant director of baseball operations.
She also had transaction experience in American League because she served as director of waivers and records.
She also put her name as the first woman who was interviewed for the position of general manager in the Dodgers. She failed to impress the club officials as they hired Ned Colletti, former assistant general manager of San Francisco Giants.
Kim received an award for her services to sports in 2009 when Los Angeles Chinese Historical Society of Southern California honored her in a ceremony conducted to celebrate Chinese Americans in sports.
The confirmation of the news is still required from the Dodgers camp. However, Los Angeles is having a decent performance in spring training. The Dodgers have won 8 of their 11 games and are moving ahead to face the Milwaukee Brewers.
It will be interesting to see what impact losing Kim will have on the Los Angeles Dodgers organisation. However, right now it seems they are only focusing on performing at their highest level during spring training.
