First xbox 360 game?

Grand Theft Auto 4.

It's hands-down, the best game I've ever played, on any system. I would have paid $100 for it if I needed to! The team at Rockstar really outdid themselves with this gem.

If you like sports games Madden 09', If you like military COD:4 or Battlefield Bad Company, If you like taking cars and hurting people then GTA:4, Those are like the top for me.

Nobody else mentioned bioshock! It was the first game I bought and I was fully satisfied. Granted, I am yet to get GTA 4 or COD4, they are next on my list. I have Mass Effect and unless your big into RPGs would say don't get it. It's fun and all but I found it overrated. Gears of War is my second favorite. But with any of these you cant really go wrong.

-Gears of War (although I would wait and buy Gears 2)

-Bioshock (Compelling Story, great gameplay, no Xbox Live)

-GTA 4 (Great Everything pretty much, but your mommy wont like it)

-COD 4 (Great co-op, live, gameplay, don't know about story)
