  1. hot showers seem to work somewhat>... but i hurt and i have played for years..

  2. Alright, im deffidently feeling your pain right now. ive only had about 5 days of tryouts/practice this year and my thighs, calves, and butt hurt like crazy. i always get in my hot tub, take two tylenol, and laydown. the next day at practice they always hurt really bad too. that combination of things works. but honestly it never got better for me during last season... you pretty much just have to get through it and know that it will all be worth it to win a tournament or match.

  3. you need to stretch, every day after you get home even if you stretched at the end of volleyball practice, do it especially before you eat!!! if you stretch like 4 times a day ( we have to we have two-a-days) ;you will be way less sore!!! also after you stretch have a banana... it will help with teh soreness and also if you have cramps!!

  4. Always warm up before you stretch, this allows for a deeper stretch. Get a good stretch after a hard workout. A good hot shower never hurt either. For tight muscles, try Cramergestics. It's this nasty smelly stuff, but it helps tremendously.

  5. drink lots of water at home, stretch before and after u work out, after a warm shower stretch again, and icing anything u need will feel good.

  6. You should be okay. Just play thru it.

    I would not even let you take the Wednesday off if I were your coach :) Just kidding, I know it is a needed break. Your coach knows it, and is offering it.

    You are in good hands.

    Have fun playing volleyball.

  7. I've been playing volleyball for five years now, and at  the beginning of each season, I'm always sore! You're just using muscles that you haven't used in a long time. All of the soreness should stop after a few weeks, but in the meantime, stretch at night, use a heating pad, and massage the areas that hurt.

  8. It's not much you can do but try to soothe ur body until it gets used to the stress being put on it. Just strech more and maybe take a cold bath for a few days. You'll get over the pain shortly.

  9. you should stretch before an after you practice.  you are sore because you are working muscles that you haven't worked them before.

  10. its normal. you just gotta suck it up.

  11. I've played volleyball 2 years in middle school and going on my first year on JV and I still get sore! It's going to happen...here's a few tips!

    * Drink lots of water before you go to practice!

    * Stretch---this is very important!

    * For the first 24 hours of being sore, take a cold bath/shower. Then you could put a heating pad on where it really hurts, use ICYHOT (that is good for your muscles), or take a hot bath/shower. But remember to do cold, then hot!

    The soreness will eventually go away, but make sure you are keeping in shape, because it's a lot harder to get back into shape than it is to get out of it. Everyone gets sore....it's just something you have to deal with!

  12. I have been playing for a while and we just started competitive teams. During tryouts I was so sore.  B4 you go to volleyball, take a hot shower an d while your soaking in the shower, STRETCH!!!  Trust me I was so sore and my private coach told me that and I was so glad. This really helps bcuz when you work your body really hard your muscles are already stretched out and it doesnt pull as hard.  It also helps you relax. Good luck on your upcoming season!!
