I'm just wondering if anyone else knows the answer to this cause I do. It's in the biggest theme park in the Northwest.

  1. I believe it was the Screamin Demon at Kings Island in Ohio.

It was simply a drop-a loop-and back up another hill where the passengers would unload. No turns, no curves. Just a one way ride.

If im wrong and it wasnt the first, it probably was one of the first.

We are talking late 70s-maybe early 80s here.

  2. Doing some quick research around the net i actually have found several websites with different coasters/parks claiming to be the first "looping" coaster. It might be one of those things where there is no actual official record or whatever.

As the other person said, Kings Island claims to this-the Demon build in the 70s. But then again Knotts Berry Farm claims to have had the first looping coaster which was built at the same time. As well as Six Flags Magic Mountain, they claim to have the first built-in 1976.

With alot of things in history there always is a claim to fame thing, with everyone claiming to be the biggest-best or first.

Yet this website here says that there were looping roller coasters back in the 1800s.

Considering that-that looping coasters have actually been around for over 100 years i would be skeptical of any park claiming to have had the first.
