  1. Why would you give your fish peas?

i've never heard of that before...

but okay, the first two answers looked pretty reliable!

    Good Luck!

  2. A pea stuck in the fish's mouth can cause death due to choking.

They breathe through their gills, yes, but they need to take in water through their mouth in order to do that.

It happened to my fish last week.

I just watched her for a little bit to make sure it didn't get life threatening. If so, put on a pair of rubber gloves, pull the fish out of the water or close enough to the surface that you can access the fish's mouth. Use tweezers to gently remove the stuck pea. Good luck, I hope your fish is okay!

  3. It could be stuck. Uh oh. It will probably dissolve because it's food. If it isn't gone in a few hours and they look like they are struggling  then intervene. Grab the fish gently and with a pair of tweezers gently try to grab and pull it out. If it's stressing the fish too much then get some clove oil from the drug store. Scoop out the fish in a clean container of his tank water and add a few drops until your fish falls asleep. Then try getting it out.

  4. Well fish breath by use of gills on the sides of thier head so if its in his mouth they the chances of him choking are pretty slim. But the pea may be stuck in his mouth and this would be deadly if left too long as he would not be able to eat and would starve to death. I'm no fish doctor but I'd say if the pea is in his mouth more than an hour or so, he may be having trouble moving it either in to eat it or out to get rid of it.,
