They say it's safe, the fish only consume the affected and dead areas of the skin, leaving the healthy skin to grow. Some patients have experienced complete cure of psoriasis after repeated treatments.

  1. Try standing in a shallow pond full of toad tadpoles. You'll end up with everything under the water covered in them.

  2. I noticed a couple of problems with the link below in that you have to purchase a large amount and how would you know that you are getting the actual fish that you are ordering. I have never known of any kind of permanent cure for psoriasis, but you can never say never - I guess.

"For treatment of skin diseases, aquarium specimens are not well suited as the skin-feeding behavior fully manifests only under conditions where the food supply is somewhat scarce and unpredictable." according to Wikipedia

  3. I saw that in the paper yesterday, kinda cool if it works.  Hope the poor fishes don't get sick ... lol

  4. I don't think you can buy garra rufa in the pet stores.  I'd imagine any fish that eats protein might work though.  My guppies sure nibble at me when I'm doing water changes!  You probably want to stick with small fish though, because while my guppies' bites just tickle, some people actually take exception to the bites of betta fish.  I don't think they hurt, but  I guess some people are just more sensitive than others.  Maybe you could try convict cichlids?  Fill your bathtub up with some and see how it feels!  You need at least 100 from what I hear and you'd have to sit pretty still to get them confident enough to get them nibbling at you.  Better let them get hungry first.  In fact, you might want to rub your feet with mashed bloodworms, too....

  5. Stick your feet in a koi pond.  No soap at all on your feet or it will kill the fish.

EDIT:  I have seen this doctor fish occasionally offered for sale.  Go to a specialty fish store and see if they can order them for you.  I suggested koi because most goldfish will also nibble at your feet or fingers if you reach into their pond.  I would assume this 'doctor fish' does a better job, however.

  6. Okay--first all please know that when you have new fresh skin that it leaves you open to stuff....like how they tell you NOT to shave your legs before you go get a pedicure because your pores are more apt to let stuff in so to speak...so for me the whole fish thing would worry me---like what if they carried a certain bacteria or something---besides why would you do this versus a good pedicure??

  7. it depends were you live because in a small town they won't but in a city they should but you can probably order them off the internet

  8. ummm that sounds realy discusting.
