I have a ten gallon aquarium that I just cleaned out because I had no fish in their. I am going to petsmart today to buy some new fish. I've had guppies, mollies, platys, zebras, and angelfish. Not at the same time though! I want you guys to recommend some fish. I want two fish that get up to five inches each. They could be aggresive or not. They should be colorful, lively, and easy to breed. But please, no livebearers!!!!! Remember ten points to the best and most helpful answer. And please give me a site like fishchannel.com to give me more info on the fish. So thanks so much. I am looking forward to purchasing my new fish today that one of you helped me pick out! It is a freshwater tank. And don't care about the price. Thanks.

  1. Well try fitting 2 schools of tetras like 5 neons and 5 red minors

  2. parrot fish r lovely

  3. I'll recommend two, though I doubt others will agree with me.  Try Regular Oscars or Red-Bellied Pacus.  Both highly aggressive and if you are interested, they will eat feeder goldfish.  It is very interesting to watch.  Oscars CAN get very big, but they will grow to the size of the aquarium, so after six months or so, if you feel bad for them, you can always sell them back to some pet stores.  Sorry no great web sites to cite, just working off experience.

    Look into various Cichlids also

  4. Oscars!

  5. omg!!!!!!!!!!!!! please don't get african cichlids, parrot cichlids, angelfish, or pacus or oscars! i've scene pacus double the size of a ten gal and yes they all get that big and they can actually bust out of your tank if its too small for them, hint why they are called tankbusters. i'd recommend ran cichlids, african butterfly, most species of tetras,

  6. If you're getting your fish today and plan on cycling with them, then you need to get either convict cichlids or danios as they are very hardy fish to cycle a tank with.  Otherwise, wait and cycle your tank first.  Of course, I have heard that convict cichlids are easy to breed and have very interesting parenting habits.

  7. ahem, if you just cleaned out the tank, and set it up completely new again, i wouldn't go out and buy fish, but go out an buy pure ammonia, which will cycle your tank in about 2 weeks

    learn more about cycling here

regards fish, which are a bit bigger, they need an established tank, they won't be able to live through the cycling process

you could get a pair of blue rams or golden rams

but you need to cycle your tank first before buying them

they love plants and also hidingspots and lots of live plants

  8. Fish grow to the appropriate size of their tank. No matter if you have a 12 inch bass, it will shrink, or if you have a tiny gold fish it'll grow.

Fish that would be good together and are fun to watch are Angelfish and a Black Ghost Knief, the Black Ghost Knieves are only aggressive to their same kind, and are great with Angelfish. Angelfish are colorful and when put the Ghost Knieve it'll look cool.

Not sure if they're easy to breed, it would be a cool lookin combination if you got them to!

I would also get a Pleco, they can really brighten your tank up in more ways than one!! Lol, hope that helps.

Oh and try FishTalk.com, I believe it's still up and running

  9. Get cichlids!  They are colorful and easy to breed as long as you make sure you have a male and female (you can tell because males have a spot on their fins and females do not).  You know when the female is pregnant because she holds the eggs in her mouth which then pouches out.  When that happens you have to put her in a different tank though, because she and the male will eat the babies a couple days after they hatch if you don't (which may or may not bother you).  If you happen to be in the DC area let me know, I have lots of babies I'm giving away.  Good luck!

  10. the fish you could buy are probably african cichlids but thats it or 2 blue gouramis.

  11. I just want to tell you to make sure you didn't set up the tank today, because you should wait at least three days after setting it up to put fish in it!  If you don't want live bearers and you want easy to breed, you are not going to find many if any fish!!  There is only one that matches yours that is easy to find and I can think of: Angelfish!  I wouldn't say they are too easy though.  If you are mostly going towards easy, I would say live bearers. And I'm sorry, but I have no website for ya.  Good Luck @ the store!!!
