Fish came down with ich... HELP?

Could I treat them using salt? I have mainly guppy'sand Endler's LLive bearer two flying foxes and two bbristle nosecatfish. I thought of using mmedicinesold at the stores... could my catfish stand that? I mean, I heard somewhere that catfishes are scaleless fish, is that true? Also, how much salt should I put in and what temperature should I maintain?

Many questions... hope those who know could help!

Thanks!

  1. The bristle nose will be just fine with some aquarium salts. Bristle nose catfish, are actually like the plecostomus. There are different names they go by, bristle nose plecos, bushy nose catfish/plecos.

I would definitely recommend slowly raising the temp in the tank as well to 82 degrees. This will help the ich parasite to run through it's life cycle faster, causing less damage to the fish. Ich itself cannot really kill the fish, but will cause it enough stress it can develop secondary diseases which will kill them. Therefore the shorter the time the parasites are on them, the more likely they'll be ok.

Dose with the required amount on the back of the salt box, and have the temps raised for a week, this should cure it. If not come back again.

  2. You can buy medicine at a fish shop for ich , but o prevent it from happening again put a few copper coins in the tank ( i works about 70% )

  3. I am so confused by this...

Either you were using German in your initial question, or somehow you know that your fish itch... either way, this puzzles me.
