I just added new fishes last week and one of them got weak so I changed the water 50% coz i thought it was the ammonia. Now, the bigger fishes keep on staying on top and i noticed that its scales have red stuff (blood) on them and also near his gills. What should i do?

  1. seperate the fishies or put plants caves or hiding spots. if you already have hiding spots rearrange them once a week but we also need to know whaat kind of fish they are to fully answer the question. fish can claim territories and defend it. put som floating plants if the fish stay on top.

  2. Thats ammonia poisoning my friend, with the fish turning red its most likely advanced, I would continue with daily water changes of about 15% and be certain to let the water stand for a few hours if not a full 24 to be certain that it has no chlorine seeing as how chlorine can destroy the bacteria that you need to "cycle" maybe ask a friend with an established aquarium to give you some used filter media and drop it in the tank, remember to transport the bacteria directly home the same way you would a fish, needs loads of oxygen to survive. and a test kit is inevitable.. ..
