Fish sitting.........

Question

Ever had someone look after your fish while you were away?

How was it done? Did you move the fish to someone elses house or did you have someone come in your house and feed the fish?

I don't like the idea of someone coming into my house while I'm away.

Are there any available services where you can take your fish to some place to be cared for thus avoiding the need for anyone to come into your house?

I have a family member or close friend come in my house to take care of it or just by self feeding food it usually feeds them for three days and goldfish can go a few days without feeding though that's not very nice

  Healthy adult fish can go for two weeks without being fed.  Auto feeders or feeding blocks are a disaster waiting to happen, do not use them, unless you want to come home to dead and/or dying fish, and a polluted tank.

  I have to plan my breeding activities months ahead of vacations, as fry & juvies can not go that long without being fed.  In the event of emergencies I have agreements with other breeders to cover emergency situations where we may have to be away.

You could always have a relative help you out, or...

My local fish-shop has a 'Fish Showcase Room' where they have dozen's of beautiful but empty tanks set up. You can bring your fish in and they will pop them in a tank and take care of them for you while you are away. It costs $30 for 7 days, but it is pretty good. As a bonus, your fish are on display in the Showcase Room... so everyone that goes in can see all your beautiful fishies. :)

Just ask around and I am sure you will find something similar.

You would most likely move it to another person's house. I have done this before, they loved it, and I trusted the fish to be alive when I came back. They simply fed the fish and took care of it, and I picked my fishie up when I was back. Simple as can be! Good luck!

If they are healthy fish they will be fine for up to 2 weeks. You could use an auto feeder but a feeding block will mess up your water. If you have anyone that lives with you who is staying home u can have them feed it.  There are two reasons i cant tell you if there are any services that you can go to. 1. idk where you live 2. I don't know the names of any fish sitting services. If you have fry in your tank i would strongly advise you get something that will feed the while you are gone. If you know someone with a fish tank who you trust you can give the fish to them while your gone and they will feed it. Hope this Helped!8D

if you only going to be gone a few days 2 or 3 don't worry about it if you are going to be gone for a week or more get and electric auto feeder they work well as long as you can adjust the amount of food they feed most will feed twice a day some will do it once a day which is my preference when I am away

do not use weekend feeder if you need the lights working you can get timers to turn them on and off also
