I wanted to ask my boss about installing a fish tank in the building. The problem is, I don’t know if it’s a good idea or not? It would be placed at the entrance of the building. This is a retirement home that I work at, it’s because my residents don’t have a lot of things and to see, so that’s why I think a fish tank would make them super happy. So what do you think? SO, I ask or not? Please serious answers only!

  1. It is a great idea. BUT there is a but...

a salt water reef fish tank would be the most appealing "but" it requires a LOT of maintenance.

And if you are not a very experience fish keeper the i do not recommend starting with a salt water reef tank. (start with a fresh water)

But i am sure there are people that could come once a week to clean and maintan (at a great price) your fish tank once a week.

oh and a reef tank is NOT cheap!!!

    any way hope i helped

  2. I think it is a great idea. Thanks for advocating for the residents at your work.

Check out this article with reasons for doing this:

If they say no, or even if they don't, this one has some sneaky ways to have "pets" (or more pets) without having pets (or more pets)!

  3. Thats a great idea! Im sure the people will love to look at them and stuff, it would be really cool. You could ask every one at the home about there ideas and names for all of the fish and whatever, it would be a great way of letting the people do someting and keep occupied. Ask your boss! :)

  4. Ask. The people will love it. You may have to assume responsibility for the up keep of the tank.

  5. I think it's a great idea, and it is pretty commonly done.  I would recommend getting as large of a tank as possible and populating it with large, colorful, slower moving fish, like angels or discus.

The residents of a retirement home often have poor sight, and will be turned off by fast movement.

Another, non fish related suggestion is to contact a local animal shelter.  Sometimes you can get them to bring out dogs for the residents to pet and love.  It's good for both the dogs and the residents.

  6. i think this is a great idea get a tropical tank you will have a better choice of fish which come in all shapes colours and sizes which will help the residents to relax and they can choose which one they like
