Question:

Fish with personality for my 55 gallon?

I am having the hardest time deciding on the fish for my new 55 gallon tank. Right now it only has a pleco, one blood parrot cichlid, and 3 black skirt tetras.

I really want an oscar or 2, but apparelty 55 gallons isn't big enough. I want a fish that gets fairly large, with personality, but won't need an upgraded tank in the future

What do you think I should get?

  1. I have to agree that I think your tank is full stocked.  As two other mentioned, you may want a few more black skirt tetras to please them, but I wouldn't want anything to happen to your current tank due to overcrowding.

Or you could get gold fish.  ;)

  2. fish don't have personalities

put a shark in ur tank,

  3. Cichlids!

  4. Your tank is fully stocked.  The parrot and pleco need every bit of the 55 gallon tank.  You should get at least 3 more black skirt tetras as they do best in shoals of at least 6.

    -----------------

Regarding the person suggesting a goldfish:  Goldfish are coldwater fish and completely incompatible with your tropical blood parrot and pleco.

  5. gold fish are smartest

  6. I say more than 3 tetras cuz tetras need 6 or more in a school for them to be happy, but that still leaves you lots of room to add more! Since you have the tetras in there, that means no large agressive fish. I was gonna say ghost knife fish, but they would eat your tetras once full grown! If you go without the tetras, here is what I think you should get-

    2 ghost knife fish

    6 neon rainbowfish

and with the tetras and bristlenose pleco, not a common pleco. Bristlenose plecos get about 5 inches long.

    With the blackskirt  tetras.....

    10 cardinal tetras

    6 neon rainbows

    10 bleedinghearttetras

Well, good luck with whatever you choose!=)
