Fishforcompliments to sweep the Christopher Smith Associates Claiming Stakes
The Class 5 Christopher Smith Associates Claiming Stakes will be staged at Newbury on Friday, 17th August over seven furlongs. Thirteen three-year and above contestants are taking their chance with the £2,588 prize money. None of the candidates
has won recently and the only decent ranking a few have been able to manage is the second score.
The eight-year-old bay gelding, Fishforcompliments, has put forth a certain reliable level of consistency through the three races that he was a part of ever since the new season shot in. The last two outings of the previous season were second scores too.
Royal Applause’s bay gelding kick started the new season with a third position in the Membership Of Southwell Golf Club Selling Stakes on 24th January, 2012 at Southwell over seven furlongs.
The race was won by the favourite entry of the race, Ingleby Arch, who won by the margin of a length.
Fishforcompliments was coupled with jockey, Paul Hanagan, for the race.
The eight-year-old then pushed his luck in the Lingfieldpark.Co.UK Classified Claiming Stakes on 27th January, 2012 over seven furlongs. He missed the race by just half a length while the race was won by, Satwa Laird.
He struck the runner-up’s position in partnership with jockey, James Sullivan.
The third seasonal outing for the Richard Fahey trained was in the Betvictor Number 1 For Football Betting Claiming Stakes on 31st July, 2012 at the Ayr race course over seven furlongs.
The favourite entry of the race, Tajneed, won it by the margin of 1 ¾ lengths. The bay gelding out of, Flyfisher, settled as the runner-up while riding with jockey, Tony Hamilton.
Coming at terms with the third position was, Daring Dream.
Today will be the first time during the new season that he will race at Newbury.
Fishforcompliments will become the mount for jockey, Paul Hanagan, today and the two will break from the seventh gate. It is high time that the eight-year-old finally bounces into form and takes back the title to the connections. He will need to look out
for Ezdeyaad who might just out perform at the claiming level.
