  1. I'm not a brit but I have had a chance to fish in western europe. I do know it is rather expensive for foreigners to fish in germany. Austria, I would imagine has some of the same laws and regulations. I found france to be very tourist friendly when it comes to fishing. non local licenses are rather cheap and equipment / stores are readily available. You can fish waters shared with germany (from the french side) without purchasing further license such as the Sauer river. I do know that I had the best fishing experience in France and though I looked at rivers in Austria, I spent most of my time rafting them than fishing. They do look very good and some areas had me wishing I brought tackle. I looked at the Austrian part of the web site and it seems that it may not be that much. it looks like it varies between 15 -20 Euros per day for 1 -2 poles. So it may not be that bad, I would still check on national license requirements.

  2. If you want great accommodation and great fishing try out a new carp lake in France it has it all for the angler who wants a great vacation.  Look them up on www.chateaudetigny.com
