i have only been fishing 5 or 6 times the first time i was a little kid and i think my uncle caught all the fish for me and it was awesome. So i tried 5 more times and failed miserably. not one fish. I tried waking up at 5 in the morning. Ive done as much possible research on the internet about bait as i can. Ive tried lures, chicken liver, power bait, salmon eggs, live crawfish, live minnows. i have gotten to a point of where i see the fish jumping right by my lure and seeing other fisherman next to me catch them that i go absolutly insane and dive in to try and get them myself. surprisingly i have come closer with that than with a pole. what have i done to disturb the fishing gods so?

  1. Why don't you ask the other fishermen around you for help and advice. If they are catching and you are not then they are best placed to give help.

  2. if every time you went fishing you caught fish with every drop. it would not be called fishing but catching, i often have been out fishing and come back empty handed, but have had a great day out still, just relax and take time to sort out yourself

  3. Listen get bread and throw it in the water. roll one piece up put in hook

  4. You are being too impatient.  Practice fishing in a large puddle for several hours per day for a few months before going fishing again.  This will teach you to be more patient.

  5. find out what kind of fish are in the pond by asking the other fishermen.  also ask them what kind of bait they are using and how they are presenting it.  it takes practice and patience.

  6. take out a guide with you then you will catch some and be more pateint!!!!!

  7. One thing a lot of people overlook is the fishes excellent sense of smell.   If you have manmade odors on your hands and then touch your bait, you will be skunked.    Common things to avoid are: gasoline(dont fill up your car or boat the day you go fishing..this applies to hunting also), scented hand soap, food (mustard on your sammich, etc), bug spray, sunscreen............

  8. try using chartruse lure with feather tailsthat worked for me and you may be useing the wrong size of bait

  9. Check the internet for a topographical map and depth chart then choose your spots based on what you see on the map.If one place isn't working try another location.

  10. My advice to anybody trying to start fishing. Find a small pond (no more than 50 acres), buy a dozen nightcrawlers, rig a bobber 2-3 feet above your hook, and target sunfish. They might not be the biggest or the most popular but they will teach you the fundamentals of fishing. You will lose lots of worms, but learn to be patient and set the hook only after your bobber goes completely under or starts running to the side. Most of all you will get some kind of activity and hopefully enjoyment. Good luck and hang in there. If you are targeting a certain species re-post to get specific advice.

  11. our village river has 50+ rainbow trout under the bridge and a couple of whoppers too.

The village kids spin for them and use floating bread and alawys catch about 12-15 in minutes (they always put them back)

Three of the villagers (me too)  get great enjoyment from feeding them bread, and watching them leap out the water for it.

So learn and study your quarry books etc are no substitute for hours of watching and learning.

Trout take the mayfly more in may/june because thats the way natural selection has made them.

Sometimes, they love spinners and small live prey.

Watch and learn, then be awed so much you would rather see them swim than catch them.

      Good luck !

  12. what lakes/ocean have u been fishing in? maybe it has to do with that.
