  1. First I would ask how much a flight to Madagascar is?

  2. seems coelacanth grow to 7ft. so a rod would be practical. from what i have read the ones that have been caught since 1939  when it was found out they were not extinct seem to have been caught only in nets.so i guess use a net .

  3. spinner bait. or contact www.troutmagnet.com and see if they make a coelacanth magnet. seems like there trout stuff works pretty good. and seeing as they've made a version for crappie see if they make one for ceolacanth.

  4. No , you can catch them using a net but you will likely go to jail as they are on the Go-Straight-To Jail-list and do not pass go and do not collect $100

  5. Hmm. Good question. Coelacanth... Well, if you were going to catch it on rod and reel, you'd want something sturdy, and you'd have to be trolling pretty deep... probably pretty slow, too, they don't look like they're very fast fish... shrimp's probably too small... maybe some kinda crab or something... they don't look like swimmers to me, so you'd want it pretty much on the bottom...

net's probably easiest, and I don't know how tasty they are, so I'm not sure I'd go out specifically targetting them until I see a few good recipes. ;)
