Fishing for mackerel

Im a bigginer and want 2 know

what time and weather is beast to go out

serching for mackerel.

  1. Why in the world would you want to fish for Mackerel?  The meat has to be eaten the day you catch it (unless you cure it) or it will cause horrible food poisoning that resembles an allergic reaction (scombroid food poisoning).

    Every time I've taken a deep sea fishing tour, we've always sliced-up the mackerel we've caught and thrown them back in the water to attract sharks.  (shark meat is killer!)

    At any rate, Mackerel are very common.  On a 4-hour trip from Newport Beach, California, we'd normally catch around 20 Mackerel a piece and maybe only one or two Sea Bass big enough to keep.  We always went on the morning trips (7am to 11am).  We never had a problem finding Mackerel... it was finding something worth keeping that was hard.
